W. G. Kinsley
Kinsley was captain of Barnet FC for seven seasons (1895-6 to 1901-2) leading the team to two championships and two runners-up places.
Kinsley was born in Brigg, North Lincolnshire, but had resided in Barnet from an early age and therefore was considered a Barnetonian. He started his football career in 1889 for Clifford FC, a New Barnet team playing in Tudor Park. Clifford FC disbanded in 1893-4 with many players joining Barnet FC and helping them to the North Middlesex League Division I runners-up in 1895-6. When Clifford FC disbanded, Kinsley played for some time for Crouch End and during his amateur career turned out on many occasions for them. He was however, for the most part, a Barnet player.

Kinsley was often found at right back, his favourite position, but for Barnet FC he occupied the centre half position which was generally accepted to be the place for a teams captain. He played in most positions including centre forward and right & left back.
Kinsley managed to escape serious injury during his career, although he bent three ribs playing for Crouch End against London Welsh, and had his eye cut open in a Barnet match against Sutherland.
Kinsleys command of the Barnet team brought many admirers including the selectors of the North London and Middlesex league teams. On two occasions he also captained the league teams
